About Lindsey Sharpe:
Lindsey is a physical therapist and an assistive technology professional who is the Regional Director of Clinical Education for LUCI. Lindsey is responsible for developing an education program consisting of clinical inservices, CEU courses, and various resources to help clinicians and ATPs ensure that power wheelchair users have access to technology needed to improve quality of life and enhance safety and independence. Prior to this role, Lindsey was a Regional Clinical Education Manager for Permobil where she participated in the creation of CEU courses, clinical inservices, and various resources for clinicians, ATPs, and end-users. In this role, Lindsey presented at various hospitals, clinics, and conferences across the United States including International Seating Symposium 2023. Lindsey trained other clinicians on wheeled mobility devices and the evaluation, prescription, fitting, training, and funding process to optimize the person-technology match and maximize client function and independence. Previously, in clinical practice, Lindsey was first introduced to wheeled mobility during her time on the spinal cord injury team at University of Virginia’s acute rehab hospital where she discovered her interest in and passion for this niche in the therapy world. Lindsey opened a new seating clinic with Carolinas Healthcare System in Concord, NC where she advanced her knowledge and skills in the prescription and training of custom wheelchairs and seating and positioning. She performed both inpatient and outpatient wheeled mobility evaluations for clients of all ages having a variety of diagnoses. She graduated with a BA in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007 and with her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Elon University in 2010. Lindsey acquired her Assistive Technology Professional certification in 2020. She is currently a member of the APTA, the NCPTA, and RESNA. Lindsey is currently licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state of North Carolina where she resides.
